a) what materials did you experiment with for this journal page
I used an acrylic primer before I started anything which created a base for anything i put on top. I then used a few different shades of blue acrylic paint to make a background that resembled water. I used black acrylic paint to draw an outline of a Coast Salish salmon and eagle, I then used white paint thinned out by water to give it some highlights.
b) did you discover anything new in experimenting with these materials?
During the making of this visual journal, I tried out many materials I've never used before like the different acrylic topcoats including the shiny and matt, I used both and saw the difference between the two.
c) how did you incorporate Coast Salish Design into your imagery? What design elements did you use?
I used most of the design elements that we learned in class, but the few that I found I used the most when creating my journal were crescents, trigons, extended crescents, and circles.
d) How does your page reflect your personal relationship with water?
My journal reflects my relationship with water because incorporated sailboat's sail, and I really enjoy sailing. another connection I made was through salmon, because I love sushi and salmon sashimi. I also incorporated a salmon in my page as a Coast Salish design using crescents, ovoids, and u forms.
